My dream resort would be AKL, but since that is currently 3300, it is out of my price range. Since this is the case, I currently have a reservation for myself to stay at CBR Dec 26 to Jan 3 including the regular dream maker package for $2200. For about $100 less, I could stay at Disney All-Star Sports Resort with a perfered room, transportation to and from the airport, and upgrade to the Silver Dream Maker package. I have until the end of October to make my final changes, before my final payment is due on Nov 11. If it makes any difference, I will be going by alone on this trip.

Here is a link to what both the regular package includes and the silver package:

Regular (CBR):

Silver:

I think that the perfered fireworks viewing and the tours are the main reason that I am thinking about doing this. Also, the 2 perfered wishes per day, either for food or activities is also nice. Since this will be my first trip since 1980, I need all of the advice that I can get.

Hi Jason

If I am reading your post correctly you have two concerns - one is which package to choose and the other is which resort to choose.

As far as the package goes, you just need to sit down and figure out what items in the package you will really use. Remember, any unused item is 'gone' once you leave WDW so if you are not going to be able to use all of them you are, in essence, throwing away money. However, if you are traveling alone I can see where items like tours and dining would appeal to you. If you are traveling with others there may be discussion over what to do - but traveling alone affords you the opportunity to do what you want when you want. I know from experience that doing the parks alone makes it easier to get everything in you want to do with time to spare - so the 'extras' in the silver package may not go to waste.

Again, just ask yourself if you really will do all the things the package offers. If the answer is no then you may want to consider a 'lesser' package and purchasing the extras (tours, etc.) seperately.

As far as the resort choice, the biggest differences between the two resorts is room size, theming and ammenities (i.e. sit-down restaurants at the Caribbean Beach while none at the All Stars). Some people see a resort just as a place to sleep - others truly enjoy their time at the resort and enjoy taking advantage of what the resort has to offer. Again, ask yourself which of these items is more important to you and use this to make your choice.

Hope this helps. Good luck in your decision.

John
